Read this review! The good, the bad, and the ugly.
By dkbluechevycruze | on Friday, April 27, 2018
Background: I bought my 2016 Chevy Cruze LT (I belive this was my package, not sure) in December of 2016. At the time I was looking to get out of my big monthly payment and into something with better gas mileage (I previously drove a base model Camaro). I got a good deal on my Chevy Cruze, I guess it was a demo model or something, bought it with a little more than 1000 miles on it. At first I loved the car. Much more roomy than the Camaro (which isnt hard) and I really loved the gas mileage. I have gotten as much as 50mpg in that car, but my average was around 36 I think. Overall a good car. Would recommend to a teenage driver who needs something safe with good fuel economy. The bad: Something I noticed pretty quickly in my car was that I had gotten what I paid for, and nothing more. My seats were manually moved, not automatic. I had no cruise control, which was something I had on my 1988 Chevy blazer... The interior was cloth which I prefer to leather, but I quickly grew tired of it as it wrapped some of the dash (not just the seats). The whole thing just seemed cheap to me. Cheaply made, cheap knobs, cheap door handles, really nothing special about the interior. With that being said, its not bad to drive up to an hour, but more than that and I definitely got up sore. The good: The exterior of this car is incredibly stylish. I got the metallic blue (cant remember the specific color off the top of my head, maybe blue ray metallic?) and it always just looked like a navy blue to me, until the sun came out. The color was amazing, with flecks of purple and gold sparkle in it. Not noticeable unless you were looking for it, but man I loved the exterior of that car. Great gas mileage, best Ive ever had and better than all of my friends. The tank is only 10 gallons I believe but wow that seemed to last me forever. The ugly: Heres the part of this review I want everyone to read: I recently totaled my Chevy Cruze. I was in an accident merging from the right hand lane to the left hand lane. An impatient driver decided to zoom around me, and the car behind me, at the exact moment that I flipped on my blinker. The back left side of my car was destroyed. I was going at least 70, she was going 80-90 when we collided. I spun 450 degrees through a paved median and into oncoming traffic (where thankfully I was not hit). I sustained significant damage to my axels, suspension, etc. and the damage was enough to total my car. Because of where I was hit, my cabin airbags never went off... And I am 100% unharmed. Its been almost two weeks since my accident. I keep waiting to wake up sore with some unexplained ache or pain so I finally have something to attribute to my accident, but every day I wake up fine. Did you read that?? I was hit, going 70, spun into oncoming traffic and I AM FINE. I cant stress that enough. My Chevy Cruze, may she RIP, protected me during what very easily could have been a fatal accident had I veered off of the paved median and into a ditch. I surely would have started flipping given my velocity at the time. Had the insurance company decided to repair my car, I would have gladly climbed back in because I know that no matter what happens, Im protected. But, since the insurance company did make the decision to total it, I will be upgrading to the Chevy Malibu. I would have considered another Cruze but I can get a better deal right now on a new Malibu. Here are a few differences I noticed after driving the Chevy Malibu (1.5L engine) for the first time: The Malibu so incredibly smooth compared to the Cruze. I can let off the gas and the car does not lurch forward. I didnt even realize my Cruze did that until I drove the Malibu and could not stop talking about it! The Cruze has a very small turn radius. Which is, I suppose, to be expected, but driving the Malibu you definitely feel like youre driving a sedan. Driving the Cruze I felt smaller on the road, the Malibu I feel a bit more present and secure. I cant really say how the cabin noise in the Malibu compares to the Cruze and I havent driven the Malibu that much (yet), but I know that the Cruze had a decent amount of road noise. Dont know if I would say its bad, definitely not a deterring factor, but going from the Camaro (very quiet) to the Cruze was almost comical. Just something to be aware of. Overall, my 2016 Chevy Cruze was a good value. I would recommend getting a decent package and driving it before you buy it. Would recommend to: Teenage driver, someone who needs good MPG, someone who wants a reasonable payment, someone who drives with younger people in the back seat. (My husband could fit, but would complain). Would not recommend to: Someone who drives long distances, someone who wants to go really fast, someone who expects a luxurious experience (at least with the package I got. No cruise control, really?) I hope this review was helpful to you all! :)… - 5.0
Really a great car and a great value

Quiet, solid built car with great fuel numbers. Really surprised at the interior room and performance. Look forward to spending several years with this car.…
